About Us
We’ve Got Heart was founded in April of 2007 in support of the Washington Nationals, stemming from the Damn Yankees song Heart about the Washington Senators. At a time when sports experts predicted a historically unsuccessful season for the Nationals, we decided to develop a blog where baseball fans in Washington DC could hear a different story.
We also began the blog in an effort to provide unique insight as female baseball fans, who are often overlooked by the baseball industry. The treasured classic Take Me Out to the Ball Game, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, was indeed about a young female baseball enthusiast. In our second year, we plan to launch an exciting new feature called “Women in Baseball” which chronicles the careers of many notable female executives, writers and reporters in the baseball industry.
While being as fair and objective as possible, we try to stay upbeat and positive about the Nationals. We believe that statistics and numbers are very important to the game, but we also cherish baseball’s history and its people. We try to tell the whole story; it’s our way of sharing this great game and passing on the national pastime.
We are not officially affiliated with the Washington Nationals or any media organization.
STEPHANIE:
Stephanie is one of the original members of We’ve Got Heart. Stephanie was raised in a military family, and grew up mostly along the West Coast. Always a sports fan, she didn’t grow up with a hometown team. She did get to see a couple Cincinnati Reds games, and a few double A Wranglers games, while living in Wichita.
Stephanie moved East for college and graduated from Mercyhurst College in 2005. After graduation, she moved to the DC area and began working with a government consulting firm. Stephanie is happy to put down some roots and excited to finally have a team to call her own. She is excited for the new stadium, and can’t wait to see the Nationals in the World Series someday!

LINDSEY:
Lindsey is the newest member of We’ve Got Heart. Born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, Lindsey grew up a devoted Cleveland sports fan. She has attended several Opening Days for the Indians, including the 2007 Snow-pening Day where fans waited 6 hours in the cold, wind and snow only to see the game called at 4 2/3 innings. After moving to the Washington DC area, Lindsey’s love of baseball brought her to RFK stadium where she quickly found room in her heart for the Washington Nationals. The Nats have so much young talent and a never give in attitude that just draws in the fans.
Lindsey attended Mercyhurst College, where she graduated with degrees in Intelligence Studies and Political Science. She is happy to have so many Mercyhurst alums in the area that she now calls home. In October 2007, Lindsey was able to attend her first baseball playoff game and cheered the Indians on to an extra innings win over the Yankees. She can’t wait to experience October baseball in Washington!

KRISTEN:
Kristen is also one of the original founders of We’ve Got Heart. Raised in western Pennsylvania, Kristen had no local MLB team growing up. She did attend some Pittsburgh Pirates and Johnstown Steal (Frontier League) games as a child. She was also an Ambassador in the town’s annual AAABA Tournament.
Kristen graduated from Mercyhurst College and holds a Masters degree in Politics from The Catholic University of America. She currently works for a public relations and online-communications firm where she has a tangential business relationship with MASN. She has consistently strived to ensure this blog’s full independence from the sports network.
Kristen is so happy to have a team in her new hometown and grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Washington Nationals community. Her goal is to eventually attend 5,000 games at the new Nationals Park – building a lifetime of baseball memories.
