Jerry Crasnick thoroughly examines the state of the Nationals today in his piece at ESPN, asking whether the team can afford Teixeira, whether Stan will stay, whether Bowden will pursue Dunn and whether the team can turn the corner on the miserable 08 season.
The Nationals might lack talent, short-term hope and any semblance of industry buzz. But at least they have their dreams.
He does mention the few bright spots (Lannan, Flores, Milledge, both Zimmerman’s and Strasburg), but this piece brought me right back down to reality.

The Nats need to shock the baseball world and bring Tex to DC. Something positive needs to happen at the Meetings.
