I got the news right when I got to the gym and after answering a bunch of texts and probably irritating a lot of gym-goers, I shut it off and decided to wait till I got home to deal with the news. It also gave me some time to think. I appreciate the heads up!

First, you have a great blog and thank you for doing such a wonderful job covering the Nationals. Secondly, lololololololololololol. I love the Nats and would love to see #23 grace us with his presence but it won’t happen. My heterolifemate claims #23 will be going to the Yankees to win championships.

I don’t know if I think he would come to either Baltimore or Washington with both teams in their current state no matter how much money was thrown at him. At least from what I have read and heard, he’s looking to get paid — while playing for a contender.

Even if he did sign with the Nationals, would Mark stay for the duration of the contract — or if he becomes dissatisfied, would he want to be traded? Lest we forget, he left the Rangers because it looked like they were not going anywhere at time.

Despite Tom Hicks — the Rangers’ owner — with his deep coffers offering him an above market deal for a first baseman, he oped to be traded.

I’m sure Teixiera would love to play locally — however, only to an extent. If it means playing for a loser (at least for the time being), I would suspect he’d pass on the region.

At this point, I see him only playing here when his career winds down if being home means that much to him.

He’s from annapolis so he might be willing to come here for a little bit less than a random team. he’s still got a lot of good years left and he fills two major needs ( healthy 1B and middle of the order power from both sides)
