You gotta have heart, all you really need is heart. When the odds are sayin' you'll never win, that's when the grin should start.

Kristen,
Are you a Nats fan first or a specific player fan first? If you’re a Nats fan you shouldn’t be conflicted. Ryan Church has been hurt every year he played. Brian Schneider is a good catcher but only a fair hitter. Both players had passed the age where they could be considered prospects.
If you want to root for the Mets change the blog site. The mets suck and will find a way to choke this season as they always do.
Luis Ayala will find his gas can soon. He puts new meaning in the term “flame thrower”.

Guy,
I really respect your opinion. But you know I’m dedicated to the Nats. Countless hours blogging, 60+ games at Nationals Park, 3 road trips…pretty much all of my discretionary income…I’m here for the long haul.
I happen to prefer the Mets to the Phils in terms of winning the NL East and I’m not terribly upset if the Nats help them do it. I was fond of Church, Schneider and Ayala and wish them all well. We’re not talking about Figueroa here.
And it’s not like we’re a few games back. And we are ultimately still playing for Strasburg.
Whatever happens, happens. But I can’t pretend to hate the NY Nats.

I think a big part of it is that a couple of guys we cheered for are now on the same team. That doesn’t happen all the time in baseball and it’s hard not to wish them well. Regardless I’m a Nationals fan first.

When the team first came here Brian Schneider was one of the most visable players around town. At many fan oriented functions,to sign autographs and chat with the fans. He was a leader on the team and really handled the pitching staff well. I remember at the DC Health Expo one of the first time the players got out to meet the public,Wilky was a bit late. Brian went down the line introducing himself and shaking hands with the fans. Ryan Church was also at various fan functions, such as the ESPN Zone. He was hurt, that was true. It seemed a match from the begining that was not destined to last in DC. FRobby and Jimbo seemed at odds with him, from the get go. That first team was pretty special to the fans. I was pretty upset when they traded Wilky. But it was a good trade for the team. I guess the point I’m making is, an emotional attachment can be made to these players. I certainly am not a fan of the Mets or the Phillies. The extreme opposite,in fact. In baseball, football and hockey. But,I certainly wouldn’t begrudge anyone wish guys like Brian Schneider well. I don’t care who he plays for.
