This morning I listened to Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio to catch their banter on Barry Bonds’ record-breaking homerun. To my dismay they had Bob Costas (NBC) on their program who downplayed the whole event. He felt that Bonds’ achievement is not quantifiable due to his tainted past. I was angry that I woke up only to listen to the negative picture he painted. It’s not at all what I wanted to hear. For me, today is a day to celebrate baseball; a day for watching the highlights and reliving the excitement. 756… wow! It’s not about your favorite team- it’s about the game. Although, I must say I was very happy to see that the Mets were represented last night.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/ny-spfan0808,0,7057210.story?coll=ny_sports_highschool_util

My congrats to the Nats on their victory. What a night to be a fan!

Read the book "Love Me, Hate Me" by Jeff Pearlman and you will understand why people aren't excited. Barry Bonds is a miserable human being who nobody likes and it has very little to do with steroids. If Griffey had broken the record (which if he had played all full seasons in Cincy would be past 700 by now) then it would be one of the greatest sports moments of all time.

The only good thing about tonight is that Mike Bacsik who is a great guy and did an amazing interview with Erin Andrews tonight will be remembered forever in baseball history.

Kind of a shame. People should be a lot more excited about such an amazing record.
