A new Harris Interactive poll finds that the New York Yankees are still America’s favorite team.

The Nationals fell from 24 to 29 in the poll. Only the Toronto Blue Jays have less fans (and the poll didn’t survey Canadians!)

Some fun facts they found:

Favorite team…

18-29 years old: St. Louis Cardinals
All other age groups: NY Yankees

Republicans: Atlanta Braves
Democrats: NY Yankees
Independents: NY Yankees

   kind of random that Republicans favorite team is Atlanta (owned by Ted Turner, huge liberal) instead of the Dodgers (owned by Rupert Murdoch, huge conservative)…

   I find that interesting

   also of political note: George Steinbrenner, a huge republican supporter, was given a presidential pardon by Reagan in 1989 for his role in making illegal campaign contribution’s to Nixon’s re-election effort as well as obstructing justice… yet democrats and independents support the Yankees… weird…

   and me, being a democrat, root for the Cleveland Indians, who reside in a state that proved to be the clinching state in 00’ and 04’ presidential elections giving the republicans power in the whitehouse…
