It’s sad when you miss a night like tonight. The steady pangs of guilt for not going to a game that you could have easily went to start to intensify. Your boys don’t just win; they crush one of the top teams in the MLB. Two of them hit home-runs. And you are watching it all happen on tv. Grrr!Nonetheless, it’s always fun to hear what Bob and Don have to say. Tonight, before a win was certain, Bob explained that recently a fan approached him and thanked him for comments he made on opening day. When reporters and sports enthusiasts across the country were predicting a devastating season for the young Nats, Carpenter said that Manny Acta’s team would surprise a lot of people. The fan explained how much it meant to have a team in Washington and how much he loved the guys, win or lose. After recalling the story, Carpenter reminded us that these Nationals are a fan’s team. They aren’t impressing reporters or making heads turn (yet), but they work hard, they bounce back, they hustle, and they believe they can win more games than people expect.Bowie did a fantastic job. We are so impressed with the outstanding work the relievers have done starting for the past few weeks. Colome, Rauch, Chief - excellent work.Guzman, Young, Church, Zimmerman - outstanding again tonight. Kearns (what’s with the socks?) and Schneider-man were also productive at the plate.A team effort for a fan’s team!
